How Guardey helped Growth Marketing Agency Dapper

The story of Dapper Agency

Dapper is a Growth Marketing agency based in Rotterdam. Founded in 2018, they grew into one of Europe’s leading Growth agencies. Their mission is to maximise the growth of brands that have an impact. They do this using the latest tools and technology, tight strategies, unparalleled creativity and the best talent available.

Most of the Dapper team is based in Rotterdam, but there are also team members from other countries. They work hard, but the team also has a lot of freedom. In this way, they not only help their clients grow, but their own team as well. They are, among others, consultants to Fortune 500 companies and fast-growing start-ups.

Don’t wait to be hacked

Dapper did not have to deal with cyber threats itself. However, they became acutely aware of the risks when one of their clients did. It cost the client a lot of money, so they knew at Dapper that things had to change. They did not have much time for it, they prefer to spend every hour of the day working for their clients. That is how they came to Guardey. Not too much hassle, but always and everywhere safe to work with the whole team.

Why Dapper chose Guardey

Unfortunately for the client, Guardey’s help came too late, but they tipped us off to Dapper. For them, it turned out to be the ideal solution. They did not want to spend too much time on it, and it just had to be done right and straightforward. Of course, they compared a number of other cybersecurity solutions, but the convenience and the price won them over.

How Guardey responded

Guardey also saw opportunities for Dapper. The first step was to set up the VPN so that the cyber alarm could get to work. Every quarter of an hour the cyber alarm learns to recognise new threats. In this way, the alarm optimises itself for each company. The weekly reports from the cyber alarm give Dapper insight into what is happening within their connections. This is an important first step in raising awareness of the importance of cybersecurity.

Another important step is to train the team. Growth Marketers love the opportunities that the Internet offers, but that is precisely why it is good to be aware of the threats as well. By being aware of the Internet, they can do many more cool things, while always being sure that it is safe.

It was also decided to set up a site-to-site VPN and a dedicated IP. This way, the team of Dapper can always work safely.

One of the most important results is that the company trained all employees on cybersecurity in one month. After that month, the team continued to learn how to keep the fictitious company within our game healthy. Now that the team is much more aware of the risks, they ensure they work safely daily. They also inform their customers of this. This way, they also know that their data is safe.

Thanks to the online monitoring, Dapper has gained a lot of insights into what is happening within their connections. They learned that small and medium-sized companies are also vulnerable to online threats. Or rather, that they are vulnerable at all. It’s not for nothing that cybersecurity is an important part of business growth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is gamification?

Gamification is adding game elements into non-game environments, such as security awareness training, to increase participation and foster active learning.

What are the benefits of gamification in security awareness training?

Traditional security awareness training can often be dry and boring. With gamification, the complex subject matter is transformed into an engaging and memorable experience.

By integrating game elements such as challenges, quizzes and rewards, it incentivizes users to actively learn. This makes the training more enjoyable and fosters a sense of competition and achievement. This combination drives better retention and application of cyber security knowledge.

Why is it important to train security awareness on a weekly basis?

Research shows that up to 90% of the learnings from yearly or even quarterly training are forgotten within a few weeks. Guardey was built to keep its users aware of cyber threats 365 days a year. The game comes with short, weekly challenges that slowly builds up the user’s knowledge and eventually drives lasting behavior change.

Which topics are covered in Guardey’s security awareness game?

Guardey covers a wide array of topics to train users about all currently relevant cyber threats, put together in collaboration with ethical hackers and educationalists. The topics covered include phishing, remote work, password security, CEO fraud, ransomware, smishing, and much more.

How much time do the weekly challenges take?

Every challenge takes up to three minutes to complete.

Can I use Guardey to comply with the ISO27001, NIS2, and GDPR security awareness policies?

Yes. ISO27001, NIS2, and GDPR all require that all employees receive appropriate security awareness training. Guardey is always up-to-date with the latest cyber threats, policies, and procedures.

Is security awareness training important for all employees, or just specific roles?

Cybersecurity awareness training is crucial for all employees, not just specific roles. Every staff member can potentially be a target or an unwitting entry point for cyber attacks. Training helps create a security-focused culture and minimizes risks for the entire organization.

While certain roles may require specialized training, a foundational level of training should be accessible to everyone.

In which languages is Guardey available?

Guardey is available in English, Dutch, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Polish, Swedish and Danish.
